This is the “age of the general counsel.” The digital revolution has transformed the corporate landscape, from international regulations to data privacy laws. Successful companies are realizing that the general counsel (GC) or chief legal officer (CLO) is indispensable at every level of business operations.

In India’s media and entertainment industry, this is especially true. Data protection laws across the world, in India no less than Europe, have created as many questions as they have answered for this fast-growing sector. Beyond compliance, risk, finance, corporate ethics, and rapidly changing technologies loom large in the media landscape.

It takes more than an in-house lawyer to tackle these questions: it takes an in-house lawyer with a seat at the executive table, prepared for the “age of the general counsel.”

To that end, Lex Witnessreaders can look forward to another month of regular content from ACC, with a special focus on media and entertainment.

This will include articles ahead of The 8th Annual Media, Advertising & Entertainment Legal Summit 2019 scheduled on 10th October at the Four Seasons Hotel, Mumbai. Content will include analysis, interviews, and opinion pieces.

ACC is proud to support Indian in-house counsel in every way we can, including through the benchmarking reports, educational resources, and networking opportunities available at www.acc.com.

We look forward to a fruitful partnership.
